CONGREGATIONAL UNION.
(By Telegram.) AtrcHXAND, Feb. 28. At tho sitting of (ho Congregational Union to-day a deputation of denominations, introduced by the Rev. J. Robertson, were received most heartily. The Bey. McKenzie Fraser said the depu* tation caino as representing the Auckland Ministers' Association and Young Men's Christian Association. Fraternal speeches were made by tho Revs. A. Reid and Thos. Spurgeon. The Rev. W. H; West, Chairman, Baid it was a great pleasure to receive and near tho deputation. Dr Roseby moved — " That this Union has heard with great pleasure the members of the deputation of the Ministers' Association of this city, and reciprocates their expression of goodwill." The Rev. J. Hoatson, m seconding the motion, said Congregationalista, however firm m holding their principles, were not above learning from other bodies. The election of officers and Committee was then proceeded with. Mr Moatwood was elected Treasurer, and Mr John Milne Secretary, and the following a Committee : — Tlie Reva. Dr Soseby, Morant, Beckenham, J, Hodson, J. Foster, H. J. Dewis, Robertson, M.A., T. Adams, H. J. Miller, and Messrs J. W. Jago, C. W. Cole, A. W. Beaven, J. Burn, W. Maguire, S. Dando, W. H. Lyon, H. Debailly, C. B. Button, Hudson and Capt. Daldy. Some time was occupied with, the business connected with fche administration of Sites Fund. On tho conclusion of tbis it was decided, if possible, that a Mission pastor be etu» ployed to open up new work preparatory to the settlement of ministers. A resolution, bearing on the question of intemperance and congratulating Auckland friends on the successful use of legislation affecting the matter, was adopted.
