CRICKET.

For some little time past a number of cricket enthusiasts have been discussing the advisability of reviving cricket, in North Taranaki, and it is felt Unit the time is now opportune to make a definite move in, this direction. Cricket, like all other branches of sport in which younger mon, at any rate, participated was naturally “hard hit” by the war, and for two or three seasons there has been no cricket at all in this district. The question of a suitable ground has been exercising the minds of those moving in the matter, and it was hoped to lay down a wicket on the racecourse. Owing, however, to the extreme difficulty in securing the necessary labour to carry out the work for this season it is felt that it would he wise to look in other directions for grounds, and the committee that had the matter in hand has sent forward a .recommendation to the North Taranaki Cricket Association urging that an earnest endeavour be made to revive cricket, and that wickets he laid down at Tukapa and at the Recreation Grounds. Pukekura Park, which it is felt would bo sufficient with the help_ of the High School wicket. The associatio nis taking the matter up, and a general meeting of all cricketers is being convened for Thursday evening, at at. the Soldiers’ Club. It is hoped there will be a large attendance.
