NEW ZEALAND NAVY.

GIST OF A CRUISER. For Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 5. The name of the warship to be presented to Now Zealand by tho Admiralty was announced by the Prime Minister .in replying to an informal welcome by members of Parliament and supporters. It is a light cruiser, tho Canterbury, an up-to-date and speedy vessel, finished and commissioned during tho war. According to arrangements previously announced, the Canterbury will not bo dispatched to tho Dominion immediately. She is entirely oil fed, and until .supplies of oil are assured the Admiralty will lend to the Government a coal-burning cruiser of the Bristol type, which is not quite so fast as tlio one ultimately to bo received. The exchange will ho made when convenient to .the Government.
