AVELLINGTON, August fi, ' The Defence Department is faking active steps io .secure a collection of material likely to be of value to future historians of New Zealand’s share in the great war. A records office lias been set up boro, of which Captain Drew, a journalist with war experience, has been placed in charge. All tbo public departments, all organisations, religious institutions, and societies which in any way contributed to tho successful prosecution of the war are being asked to compile .statements for filing in the records office.

Much valuable information is already in the possession of the Defence Department and the Minister hopes people who have been asked will recognise th» importance of work from a historical point of view and lend all tho assistance in their power
