INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.
THE VALUE OF INOCULATION. By Telegraph—Press Assn,—Copyright. ■ MELBOURNE, August 5. Dr. Penfold, chief quarantine laboratory officer, reports regarding tho value, of inoculation for irrllmuiKa that the use of vaccine was associated with a fall in tho incidence and mortality of the disease, the ratio of deaths' in (lie inoculated and imiuoculalcd groups being as five to twenty-four. A small part of the improvement may have been duo to flic fact that quick treatment wap received by those inoculated. Dr. Pcnfold says inoculation should have been more widely used and the doses larger. A repetition of inoculation would certainly extend the period of immunity.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
