THE PEACE SHIP. STARTS ON HER VOYAGE. . AMID MANY JEERS. (Received Deo. 6, 10.45 a.m.) . NEW YORK, Deo. 5. Ford’s peace ship sailed amid shouti of ridicule and laughter. It was popularly renamed “The Ship of Fools.” The vessel carries 190, including 51 journalists, 50 stenographers and sec retaries, including Mr. Ford’s own ten and three cinematographers. The rooms were profusely decorates’ with peace emblems and doves wcr< scattered 1 broadcast. Mr. Ford wai weary looking after a final interview with Mr. Br>vin, who hurried from" Florida to give - his benediction. Outspoken editorials in the New York 'World and the' Tribune declare that immediately upon the meeting of Congress, the of both Houses should pass a resolution calapg upon President Wilson to suspend diplomatic relations with Germany until the German Government 4 disavows - the Lusitania crime, ’apologises for the insult to American honour, and .agrees to submit to The -Hague the question of reparation in money for the murders committed. The articles add that such a course might moan war, but it should be followed regardless of the consequences.^ The Tribune says that President Wilson has not only betrayed the national honour, hut has misrepresented American sentiment and tradition. The paper does not believe that the mass of Americans are “peace at any price” people. They are tired of sham sentiment and cowardly, political evasion. Ail true Americans would have responded to courageous leadership and action, at whatever cost. PRO-GERMANS ’ SENTENCED. NEW YORK. Dec 4. Herron Buenz, Cotter and Hnchn-.eis-ter, directors of ,the Hamburg-Amerika Company, have been sentenced to eighteen months’ imprisonment in the penitentiary, while Popponghans was sentenced to one year. The HamburgAmerika Company was fined the nominal sum of one dollar. Appeals ar« pending. ANOTHER UNDESIRABLE. WASHINGTON, Dee. 5.
