RIFLE SHOOTING.
> NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB OHAAIPIONSHIP. The second and third shoots for tho championship of the New Plymouth Defence Rifle Club were fired on the Rewa Rewa range on Easter Alonday. ’ Tho day was far' from pleasant to the men engaged, and eventually the last range had to be abandoned on account of tile rain. In the first shoot, at the 300, 500, and 600 yards ranges, Rifleman AVinslado was leading with 96, ■. Rifleman Evans following one point behind, and several others being handy. At the second round Winslade increased his lead from Evans, while Hmphries and Hartnell also came well into the running. At the third shoot, only two ranges of which are, yet completed, Evans left AA’inslado and is now- leading. The 1000 yards range has yet to he fired, and so the winner is still undecided. Considering the state of the weather, some remarkably good shooting was done, and possibles at different ranges were scored by Riflemen AVinsladc at 500 yards. Short and Humphries at 800 yards, and Evans at SOO yards. Scores:— '
