MESSAGES OF CONDOLENCE. Mrs. Tisch has received numerous letters and telegrams of sympathy in her bereavement. Sir J. Carroll, Acting-Premier; I am deeply grieved to learn that my old friend, your esteemed husband, • has passed away, and extend to you my heartfelt sympathy in your great loss. In addition to his many fine personal qualities for which lie was held in high iregard, Mr. Tisch was an able and valued first citizen whom New Plymouth can ill afford to lose, and- his removal from’ our midst will occasion widespread regret. The Hon. T. Mackenzie, Minister of Agriculture: 1 am greatly shocked at the sad news of the death of your moat respected husband. 1 had hoped, that the would have resulted in his complete recovery to health. It has otherwise been ordained, and your-loss is irreparable. The’Dominion, too, has 1 been deprived of a good and. faithful public man. I recollect with the greatest pleasure the most enjoyable time 1 had whilst in New Plymouth, largely due to his kindness. Please accept my deepest sympathy in your great bereavement. v

The Borough Council of Eltham conveys its deepest regret and sympathy. 7 . At a meeting of tho AA’elliugton City Council on Thursday night a motion of condolence with the relatives of the late Air. Tisch was passed on tho motion of Councillor L. M'Kenzie.

At tho meeting last night of the Horticultural Society, the following resolution, proposed by Mr. J. Baton and seconded by Mr, H, F. Russell, was passed, all members sanding:—"That this committee place on record their deep regret at the great loss to-, New Plymouth by the death of his Worship . tho Mayor (Mr. G. Tisch), and .that this committee convey to Mrs. Tisch their deenest sympathy in her great, loss.” Other members testified to the ‘great help Air, Tisch had bfien to various local bodies, and especially to the Horticultural Society. He had always been a liberal and hard-working .steward.

The funeral of the late Mayor of New Plymouth,. Mr. G. Tisch, tool; place this afternoon, the interment being at Te Heuui Cemetery. A very large cortege followed the body to its last resting place. After the hoarse came 49 vehicles, followed by about three hundred citizens of all ranks, and a large number of school children. The cortege took exactly ten minutes to pass Currie Street. A large part of the route was lined by sorrowing citizeiis, and the great esteem in which the late Mayor was held was evinced by the expression on all faces. The shops and offices were shut while the funeral was in progress.
