INGLEWOOD BOROUGH COUNCIL.
I Tho usual monthly meeting of the ! Inglewood Borough Council was held last night when there were presentHis Worship tho Mayor and Councillors Young, Surrey, Tarplce, Fawcett and Bennett. After the usual formal business had been transacted the following correspondence was dealt with:— From the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce advocating a tniveisal Saturday Half Holiday throughout tho proi viuce.—lt was resolved that a copy of. j the letter be forwarded to the Tradcs- ; men’s Association nod that a comnut- | tee from the Association be requested ; to confer with the Council on the ; matter. • From H. B. Curtis, applying to have ■ the footpath in irout oi tns new buildings asphalted on tho usual terms, — The matter was left to tho Works ComI mitlee. with power to act. From M. Weeks, applying for a sanitary plumber’s license.—The clerk was instructed to write to the Health Of liver, asking him to examine .Mr. Weeks, the hitler to hear all costs. OTHER BUSINESS. Councillor Tarplee reported that he had examined ttio Fire Brigade plant and had tound hid feet ot good nose, which with 500 fuel ol new hose just to baud would make 1100 ieel, or quite sullieient lor all emergencies. Ail the rest o. the plant was in tirsl-class order, amt the brigade was very enthusiastic. —The council adopted Uie report and resolved to provide pegs for hanging tho hose ami to erect a derrick lor the purpose of drying it. The hose will in luturo he properly dried by the council’s employees. Councillor Tarplee was heartily thanked lor the report. Councillor Tarplee reported that he had attended the meeting ol delegates Irom local bodies to hear Dr. Valintmo’s address on the new Hospital Bill. Councillor Tarplee agreed with the finding of the meeting (reported in Friday evening's HeralcQ, and submitted it ns a m onimemiafiun. The council's contribution would he a little more than formerly, ami they would have the services of the inspector in accordance with the Food and Drugs Act-.—Tho recommendation was adopted, and it was resolved to thank Councillor Tarplee and to reimburse him for expenses incurred in attending the meeting. The "Works Committee reported that the foreman had resumed duty from January 1, and that the borough works, including the working of the gravel pit, would from that date ho under his supervision. Tho treasurer’s statement was received, Accounts amounting to £lO2 Ifi.s were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned. I
