Tho tenth annual gathering of the Rahutu Athletic Club was hold on the Domain ground on January 2. In the early parr of tho morning there wore heavy showers, but about 10 o’clock a change of weather took place, and the day was fine but 'rather windy. The luncheon booth was under the supervision of Messrs. Candish and Lord. Tho appearance of Messrs. George M’Caulv and Pretty lent additional interest to tho chopping events. D. Pretty gave an exhibition chop, _ starting amongst the novices in the Novice Chop, his time being 39sec. The gate takings were only £23 3s (id, against £29 IVs last year. Candish, chairman of the club, presented to I). Pretty and M‘Canley a purso of sovereigns. Mr. Candish said ho did not wish them to take it as a gift of charity, ns they had not boon successful, but as a gift from Rahotu sports, to show the esteem in which they hold them, to which Messrs. Pretty and M'Cauley suitably replied, and Mr. D. Protty asked for throe cheers for the chairman, secretary, and tho club. The annual concert in the evening was not well attended, being only a CIO 7s house. Tho downpour of rain at 7.30 undoubtedly was the cause, but those who did attend had tho pleasure of hearing that gifted player, Miss P. Martin. Mr. Canned played the accompaniments. Tho programme was as follows:—Comic song, “I am Done,” Mr. Gray; song, “Yesterday,” Miss Rnrrctt; comic song, “Slap Dab.” Mr. AV. Francis, which was oncorcd, and Mr. Francis gave “I am One of tho Family”: violin solo, Miss Martin; song, “AVidow O’Brien,” in character, Mr. A. Taylor, encored, and Mr. Taylor gave “The Old Cracked Basin” ; song, “Still I Gove. Thee,” Miss O'Rorke, encored, last verse repeated; song, “On Mondav I Mot Her.” Mr. A.
