BIOGRAPH PICTURES. The exceptionally fine programme of pictures thrown on the screen at the Theatre Royal on Saturday by the Biograph picture Company will ho repeated to-night, when there should bo a bumper house. The films tiro quite up to the high standard which has been sot hy the company, and include “Lieutenant Rose and tho Foreign Spy,” “Ransom’s Folly,” and “From Gipsy Hands,” three of the finest pictures ever seen hero. In addition, to tho programme of living pictures, Mr. Farmer will again appear in “The Registrar” and “The Barrister,” which items were so enthusiastically received on Saturday.

DOROTHY. Tho full rehearsal of this popular opera, held last evening in the Theatre Royal by the New Plymouth Operatic Society, was a great success, and went with a good swing throughout, tho members being very enthusiastic. The principals are all working very hard, and will give a very good representation of their parts both musically and dramatically. A full opera orchestra consisting of the most capable instrumentalists of the town has been arranged to assist the production, and tho orchestral music, which has been imported for the occasion from Messrs. Chappell and Co., Melbourne, has arrived. The caste, as has already been announced, is a good one and a strong one, and the society are sparing no expense to make the coming season a huge success. Tho opera will be lavishly dressed, and tho entirely new scenery recently painted by Mr. Will Diamond will bo as fine as any hitherto seen in New Plymouth. The public arc reminded that tho box plans open at Collier’s Music Warehouse on Thursday morning next, at 8.30, and as there are already a largo number of tickets sold, there is every prospect of a heavy booking. Country clients may have their scats reserved by forwarding n postal note for amount and a stamped | envelope for return of tickets.
