Armstrong bowled with wonderful steadiness for nine overs /for three runs, but Whitty was freely punished. [If only the bowling had been of better class, Middlesex, when fully represented, would in 1908 have had a splendid eleven, for the side was rich in run-getters. Batting alone, however, will not win matches, and of the nineteen county fixtures.— the first match w ith Kent had to be abandoned—Middlesex only won six, three being lost «nd ten left unfinished.] DEATH OF MR.
