ROTORUA TRAIN DISASTER.

AUCKLAND, August 13.
The inquest concerning the death of Guard Lowe was resumed to-day. Tho evidence of Cooper (driver of the second engine), Dwyer (assistant guard), who was injured, and Tyer (the porter) was taken. No new facts were elicited. All the witnesses declared that the Westinghouse brakes were on when the train left Putaruru.
Tho evidence of Dwyer and Tyer was taken in the ward at the sanatorium, as they were unable to leave lao institution. The Court adjourned at six o'clock until seven. The evidence of the stationmaster at Putaruru is now being taken, after which the inquest will be adjourned until to-morrow.
Prior to the inquest being resumed to-day, a representative of the Westinghouse Brake Company gave a practical demonstration of the efficiency of tho brake in the station yard. The Coroner and jury were . presents •• ' The demonstration took place a,t n\ne o'clock,-he-fore the departure of the express. Jt was highly satisfactory.
