DUNEDIN, August 13.

Mr. Justice Williams to-day sentenced Donald McDonald to fifteen months' imprisonment for thoft ; Chas. Henry Johnston to nine months' for theft ; Michael Lenahan to twelve months for theft. Mary Gibson was ordered to come up for sentence for false registration of birth. AVilliaro Campbell Smith, for breaking and entering, was discharged on Smith's father entering into a recognisance of £20 that accused would come up it called on. Alfred Leonard Blue, concerning whom the Industrial School authorities reported very adversely, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment for housebreaking, and William Dougall to eighteen months' for embezzlement.

CHRISTCHURCH, August 13.

At the Supreme Court to-day a youth named John Downie Stewart wa3 acquitted on a charge of forging and uttering a cheque. Holmes was also acquitted of a charge of stealing £8 and i a gold watch and chain from a fellow passenger on the Maheno oil July 18. The charge of manslaughter against William Barnard Rhodes Moorhouse, .arising out of the New Brighton Beach motor cycle fatality, was mentioned by Mr. Stringer, the Crown prosecutor. He said that counsel were coming from Wellington to defend Moorhouse, and lie understood that there were several medical witnesses. He therefore suggested that the case might be fixed for Friday. His Honour acted accordingly.

WELLINGTON, August 13.

At the Supreme Court to-day, Sydney Macnamara, charged with having kept a common gaming house, was found not guilty. William Henry Oakenfull pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing £8 from Charles Ridenhaigh, at Martinborough, but pleaded guilty to receiving the money, knowing it to have been stolen. The prosecution accepted this plea, and sentence was deferred. James Kennedy was acquitted on a charge of stealing £5 from Frederick Siegel at Masterton.
