THE MELBOURNE MURDER.

A SUPPOSED CLUE.

United Press Association — By Electric

Telegraph. — Copyright. t (Received June 11, 10.50 a.m.)

MELBOURNE, June 11. '

After Bauer' had been murdered a miller and jeweller in Little Collins St. informed the police that a man called at his shop,, and inquired for Bauer's address, a few days ago. The description corresponded with that of a wellknown Victorian criminal. Suspicion points td the fugitive having gone to Sydney. This idea fits in with the story that a man was seen to leave the building in a violent hurry a few minutes after 5 o'clock. He hailed a cab, telling the cabman to drive fast to Spencer Street. The Sydney express left at 5.5 p.m.
