(Per Press Association-^
DUNEDIN, March 25. ; The sitting of the Railway Appeal Board concluded to-day, when an ap-,j peal by C. E. Best, formerly leading carpenter at Hillside workshops, against reduction t° * ne position or carpenter was heard. The Depart-, ment's .action in reducing appellant was based on his use of obscene and improper language when speaking of the foreman of his, department. The use of the language was admitted, but it was contended that it rwas done jocularly, and not »with the Qbject of. disT^ paraging the foreman the eytes of the men. It was also contended that ] a fine would have met the case, and that the punishment inflicted was. more' severe than the circumstances warranted. The Board reserved decision.
