PIONSHIP.

The finals for the championship attracted a large, attendance. Parker's success, in tne earlier stages of the New South Wales' Single Championship left.lijn^io fight out the final with Horace Rice, pi New South Wales. A splendid struggle Resulted in the Welshman defeating the e^ew Zealander, 6—4, 6—3, 3— 6, 5— 7, 6^—l. Rice secured the first two s^ts^and Par- ' ker placed the next two 1 6' his credit. In the final tussle, Rice carried all before him, playing with great judgment , and power, arid keeping the, attack on Parker's forehand. Parker showed fine resourcefulness and science, but was ' somewhat lacking in his usual dash towards the close. •-,,. In the Ladies' Single Championship,,,, Miss Payten beat Miss D. Gordon, 6—2,6 — 2, 6-^O. In the Gentlemen's Double Championship, Wright and Jones defeated Peckley and Rice, 6—2, 6—3, 4—6, B—6. (At- the beginning of this season Parker beat Horace Rice for the Metropolitan Championship of Sydney. The unplayed matches in the HenuiNew Plymouth match of Thursday last are to be ' played off to-morrow . afternoon, at 4.30, at the New Plymouth Club's courts. Players interested are requested to be up in time.
