BELL BLOCK.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

An extraordinary general meeting of , tho shareholders of the Bell Block Dairy < Company, Ltd., was held in the Hall on Wednesday evening, to consider the advisability of erecting a cheese factory. Mr John Connett, chairman of directors, occupied the chair, and about 24 shareholders attended. After tho chairman had given an approximate cost of the proposed factory, it was decided to let the matter stand over for the present. It is the intention of tho directors to call a meeting later on, and it is hoped that every supplier will make it his business 'to attend. There is no doubt that cheese, at the price now ruling, has a big pull over buttor, and it behoves our shareholders to seriously consider the ifiatter. and wh^n tho next meeting takes place, to attend. Then, perhaps, next season we may ho gathering in a bigggr price for buttor fat, like our brother farmers down the line. The supply of milk is gradually decreasing at the factory, but the tests are on the rise, the.j^ighest being about 5. The is about four boxes a day above the cprresponding montli of last year. Mr Harold Street, accompanied by his sister, Miss E. Street, are doing the Exhibition, and are expected home next week. t Mr and Mrs R. Pepperill have returned from a fortnight's holiday spent in Auckland, and look all the better for their trip to the northern city. Mr A. Cliff ,is erecting a residence on the Pariate Road for Capt ; Young. /This particular part of the district is getting quite thickly populated. On Tuesday evening, 26th instant, a social will be given to the subscribers to the Hall, when it is hoped that as many will attend-as possible. Nonsubscribers are also Welcome. The Hall Committee are expecting a bumper house. 1 x There is an excellent opening for a good all-round blacksmith in our village.
