BOROUGH COUNCIL.

1 The intermediate meeting of the I Council was held last night. Present : I The Mayor,, Councillors Bennett, Winfield, McDonald, Tarplee, and Brown. — The Electric Light and Power Company wrote asking' the r Council to authorise the company to disconnect the houses of consumers whose accounts are six months in arrear- v The report of the committee appointed to revise the charges made for use of water for motive power was held over for a fortnight. Resolved that Mr J. Buckley be charged 2s 6d per month for water supply to his steam boiler, so long as consumption does not exceed his estimated average of 392 gallons°'per week, a discount of 50 per cent, to be allowed if paid before 10th of each month following that for which payment was due. Tho engineer was instructed to send the owner of part section 262,, 0n which the livery stables stand, a notice to put in the necessary drains to connect the stables with the sewerage system. A progress payment 'of £15 on Cutfield -Street c6ntract was passed for payment; also annual subsidy of £10 to the Inglewood Tostfaij -Band. I

A Catholic bazaar was held in the Parish Hall on "Wednesday, the proceeds of which go towards paying off the debt on the school and convent at Inglewood. So far the days have turned out fine, and to this date (Friday) a caiptal business has been done. The ladies in charge of the stalls are as follows: — No. 1, on the left as you enter, Mrs Priest and the Misses Stevens, Hart, Greig, and Schroeder; No. 2, 4 Miss M. Kenny and Mrs Stevens, and Misses H. B. Nicholls, Miles, and Calgher; No. 3, Mrs McMahon and the Misses Wisnewski, Dodunski, and Kuklinski; No. 4 (containing a large number of handsome dolls) r Miss Geraghty; No. o, Misses Geraghty and Butler. The stage had been prettily decorated by Mr Rowe and Miss Olga .Quigley, and laid out as a supper room; good business has been done. There were some handsome, good, »nd_ useful articles on v'iew'oif'tt.B^stalls.-- TJp to the present about £100 has been taken. All the children attending the convent schools were admitted ' free.
