Dr Uojnc and Mr J. ,H. Parker waited on the Council, and presented a pcjtition, sig-ned by nine ratepayers rcsiof Powderham -street betwep» . llobe and Dawson-streets, 'asking for - tho metalling of t Powdei-ham-street along- th« soction named to the full width of the roadway. The ..Engineer said "he had rbcomm'ended metalling the road in question about 'half width at a cost of £80. The work asked for would cost about £150. Mr Tisoh supported the req.uest, and moved that it bo granted. Crs, Collis and Cliff concurred. Crs. Ewing advised delaying consideration till the next meeting of the Works Committee. 'Cr. Wilson held the same .View. Cr. Tisch's motion, was carried.
