The ordinary meeting of the Borough Council, held on Monday; evening, was attended by his Wor»hi|p iiha Mayor (Mr-R. Cock), Crs. Swing, Cliff, ißrookfng, Browne, Tisch, fWilson,aTid Coll is, Apology; for non-'a'ttendanco owing to illness was made for Cr. Stohr.
POWEIt OELOUSJU CONTRACT.
In sending drawings and prints in connection with the power-Mouse, Mr Mestayer pointed out that tho work embraced in clauses 50 to 55 would be paid for by the Brush Company as a part .of; iheir contract, (but if executed) by t»he same contractor as doing tho power sibation, complication of introducing- another contractor would «be avoided. Schedule rates only to- be given for this work, which would bo charged for by mfcaauretaent .on bomlpletion.;
The fßbgineei; reported that ho had not invited .tenders for 4;he powerhouse as the builders'- general conditions of contract involved such radical nitrations in tho conditions and Kpocificati'ons that ho >did not feel Just'ifiod in altering without firat consulting (Mr Mestayer. and also that itho conditional forwarded were so indistinct that it *was impossible to rea ; d thorn, . These suggestions were adopted, Mi} Mestaycr to bo asked to make the matter one of urgency.
