ELTHAM.
[from our own correspondent ] Tin: marriage of Mr F. Quin, of Momohaki, and Miss Mary McGovern, eldest daughter of Mr McGovern, of this town, took place on Monday morning and attracftd much attention. The bride was beautifully attired in rich white silk, and was given away by her father. The two sisters of the bride were the bridesmaids, and wore very pretty dresses and handsome brooches, the presents of the bridegroom. The wedding took place in tho Roman Catholic Ohurch, the ceremony being. performed by Rev. Father Power, A fire broke out, on Monday night at the grain store of Messrs Henwood Bros, and destroyed some £600 worth of prcperty. The building was insured for £150 in the South British, so that the owners will be considerable losers. Mr Allison is going to offer 13 of his sections by auction on the 7th February, and as the land is situated close to the Recreation Grounds and Railway Station it will most likely be quitted at high prices. Nothing of importance came before the S.M. ai the Court on Tuesday. Two men were each fined 10s and 8s costs for ""• creating a disturbance in a public place, and the usual few civil cases were all that engaged the time of the Court. Mr Potts is pushing on with the Bank of New South Wales, which is now near completion, and is indeed a handsome structure, and quite an ornament to the west end of the town. The weather is magnificent, and tha grass seed is being conveyed to the several cleaning sheds. Gardens, as in former years, are being robbed of the apples and other fruits which they possess, and it is a pity that all the culprits escape.
