JUNCTION ROAD.

]FBOM OUK OWH OORBBSPOHDENT. 1 The Waiwakaiho Road Board met on Tuesday, when the consideration of the petition from settlers interested in accepting Mr Willir.m Miles offer to give land for a new road to connect Kent Road with Albert Road was deferred to the next meeting of the Board. This proposed road would be a g r eat boon to that immediate district, giving as it would, better access to the new block to and from New Plymouth. Tenders were ordered to be called for 60 yards of broken stone for Kent Road, and spreading lome. The atbention of the County ; Council is to beldirected to the obstruction to traffio on the Waiwakaiho Road (the : Mutton Track) owing to the Council , having thrown a barrier across the road to confine the flood waters of the Wai i wakaiho river. The Board passed a re- . solution dissenting from the proposal to convert the Mo& and Ngatimaru districts : into a new county, but authorised the Chairman (Mr H. King) t» attend the conference, havidg charge of the proposal, to express the Board's views and watch its interests. The abolition of the present Board within the area of the proposed new county would be strenuously opposed by the settlers at this end of the district, who in this matter hare much to lose und nothing to gain. Accounts amounting to £2(3 Us Id were passed for payment. Mr Latham, the contractor, has commenced • on the Kent aud , Korito Roads Formation work and the getting of stones out of the river bed will probably be tho only work done this Beason. The crushing and spreading of the metal and completion of the works •will be doce in the late spring. The rates c«n«equent upon the cost of this work, in conjunction with the previous special rate, will be flomewbat heavy, but the advantage to the higher settlers will bo < very great, as for some time the roads in winter hare been anklo deep in inu'l ; moreover, many more f armors will be a bio to snpply the local creamery with rnnk. . Anent this latter subject, the output of butter is very considerably decreasiug, but unfortunately there is a great dulneas in the butter market at present. However hope on aud work on. ' Mr C. K. Stock's raappointment as . membors of the Land Board h gazetted '
