Cattle. — On account of the Show last week I held my Waiwakaiho sale on Fiiday when there was a very large muster of stock, the yard accomodation being taxed to the utmost and then was barely sufficient, one \ f>r two lots having to remain in the paddock. Bidding from the start was lively aud the sale was a most successful one, nearly everything sold ac the hammer, very few lines being passed out. Big steers were in best demand, 2-year-olds keeping up remarkably well, and all of this class sold at prices fully equal and in some cases in advance of the previous sale.^tilmpty heifers were well competed for at improved rates. Springers were perhaps the least saleable, except for any- • thiug very forward. I quote : Calves. 16s to 27s ; yearlings, 28s 6d to 37s ; IS months mixed, 43s to 60s ; IS months steers, 50a to 53s j 2 to 2J- year steers, 55s to G3s 6d ; 2i to 3 year steers, G4s Gd to 76s ; 3J years steers. | 83s ; empty heifers, 4.">s > to 60s ; springers, 55s to 6us ; store cows, 32s 6d to 55s ; springers, j i'Os to 90s ; cows and calves, 68s to f!B3 6d ; fat bullocks, 130s.— At Toko on Tuesday there^ was a small mister and few buyers, Bidding was quiet and most lots were passed in. 18-months steers made 50s; springing heifers, fiOs ;cows, 100s to 122s 6d.— At Stony River on Wednesday the yards were crowded with cattle. There was a good attendance, but the heavy rain which bet in at noon interfered greatly with business and spoiled what promised otherwise to have been a very successful sale.
