RECITATION AND SINGING COMPETITION.
Tub competition in connection with the Wcsleyan Band of Hope was brought to a close on Friday ovontng. Great interubt haß boon shown both by the general public auil the uieuibcis of the society in the result, aa tostiiicd by tlio largo audiences which have assembled both evenings, and the judges have no light task in classifyiug aomo of the competitors, tlio recitations being delivered no correctly and gracefully. The following have been awarded prizes : — (.{iris under 10 yoais of nge_ Ist prizo, Gwendoline Robbie; '2nd, Jane (Joleumn ; 3rd, Maud Treeby, Between 10 and 13 years : Ist, Kite Shorney; 2nd, Edith Uobb'o; 3rd, Annio ARher. Between 13 end 17: lbt prize, Alice lioss. Boya - BetweoQ 10 and 13: Ist, prize, George Treoby; 2nd, R. He-well Under 17 : Ist prize, Charles Robbie; 2nd, Wm. Saddler. Singing — Ist prize, Kato Shornoy ; 2nd, Annio Asher; 3rd, Alice Ross; lth, Ethel Ayres. Tho judges for the recitations were Messro .N. K. MacDiarnrid, E. Veale, and J. Harvey; for singing, Mr N. Okey and Mrs Batten. The prized will be distributed at the next Band of llope meeting. A hearty vote of thanks to the judges was carried with acclamation, oud tho meeting closed in the ÜBual wanner.
