MR G. GARRY'S CONCERT.
The firßt of Mr Garr>'n popular concerts in tho Aloxandra Hall on Friday night was very successful, almost overy Dumber on the programme beinsj oncored. Tho orchestra was very cllieiont, and during tho oveningiplayed tue overture, " Lo'Chevalicr do Breton ;" waltz, " Andalueian ;" caprice, " Solitude ;" gavotte (composed by Mr Garry) ;and barn danco, " Ecstasy " (composed by Mr Garry). Tho vocal numbers wcro also well received. Miss N. Ford was encored for tho song " You and I Love," and responded. Mr Webbßowen was in good voice and sang, " The Tar's Farewell," in a highly successful manner. An imperative encore waa demanded, and in response he gave "I'm off to Philadelphia." Miss N. Coeper, a young debutante, created a favorable impression in the eong "Bide a-weo," This young lady has a decidedly pleasing voice, aud her enunciation is capital. In responso to an encore Miss Cooper repeated the last verae, Mr Charles Rogers brought down tho houso in the coster song, iv character, "What uher, or Knocked 'em in the Old Kent Road." Tho song proved very effec tive, tho orchestral accompaniment and the valuablo assist nco ih t some of the audience lent in the chorua being special ; features. For hia make up of a coster Mr Rogers must be complimentod. An imperative oncore was demanded and responded to. Master Jack Garry made hia debut a<s a violin soloiat, playing " Bluo Bolls of Scotland " (with variations) with great success. In response to an enccro Master Girry played "Annie Laurie." Miss Bella Wood vocalised tho taking song <; Maggie Murphy's Home" in ronlly first class style, and in response to an encore the young lady lopeatod the last vorso. As a cornet soloist Mr Garry enjoys a well earned reputttion. On this occasion he played "The Song That Reachod My Heart," Mr James Morey accompanying on the piano, and as usual ho had to respond to a vociferous encore. Mr C, Rogers recited "Christum Day in the Workhouse," bringing out tho dramatic points in the piece. For an encore Mr Rogers gave a comic recitation, introducing soino capital local allusions. The voiial duet, "In tho Dawn of the Twilight," was nicely vocalised by Misses B. Wood and N. Ford, who acknowledged a recall by repeating the lat>t vorso. Mr G. Garry played tho accoinpininients for tho vocalists. Mr Garry proposes to givo acother concert in a fortnight's time.
