The Airedale and Rangatira arrived on Sunday last from the Southern Provinces. The intelligence from the other Provinces is not of great importance. Business in Southland and Otago appears to be growing worse, and great complaints of extreme dullness are universal in both Provinces. The b.b. Auokland had arrived at Nelson from Sydney. The capture of Gardiner, the notorious bushranger, is confirmed. He was living under the name of Christie, as a hotel keeper, in Queensland, in company with another man, under the firm of Christie and Craig. — Wheat in Adelaide on the 23rd was 7s. 3d. per bushel, and flour was £25 per ton in Sydney. In Melbourne flour was unsteady. Large importations of wheat are looked for to Australia, and the belie' is that present high prices will not long rule. In Otago flour has greatly advanced. In Nelson the sudden rise in bread has been checked, aud the 4lb. loaf is now Is.
