TIMARU SHOW.

EXHIBIT OF FRIESIANS. One of the specially interesting features of the Timaru A. and P. Show on October 30 and 31, will be the exhibit of pedigree Friesian dairy cattle. No fewer than forty animals will be shown, coming from the herds of such well-known breeders as T. R. Eades (Edendale), W .Y. Dickie (Mataura), J. H. Grigg (Longbeach), T. Sherriff (Clandeboye), and A. S. Elworthy (Pareora). Included in the mature cows are those great type cows, Clover of Avonmore and White Clover End, bred by .1. McAnulty, of Winchmore; Hinemoa. Beauty (two records over SOOlb fat) and her daughter, Waverley Maid, both owned by T. R. Eades; Pareora Hero Fancy, Pareora Van Thumper Posch, Pareora Echo Blossom (a New Zealand record production cow). The bulls include Bloomfield Alcartra Clothilde, son of Alcarta Clothilde Pietje (11451 b fat), the highest butterfat backed bull in New Zealand (owned by W. Y. Dickie), Longbeach Transvaal Stamp 2nd. (J. H. Grigg), Cordyline Cremona Pontiac (T. R. Eades), all great show bulls; and among the young stock of both sexes are some of the best bred and highest butterfat backed dairy cattle in the Dominion. The South Island championships for Friesian bull and cow are to be decided at this Show, and the judge (Mr W. Brash, of Waikiwi, Invercargill) will have very strong classes in both championships. Mr J. P. Kalaugher, secretary and official demonstrator for the New Zealand Friesian Association, will be present on both days of the Show, and will give demonstrations on judging dairy cattle, on both mornings and afternoons. Those interested in dairy cattle should attend these demonstrations, which are highly instructive, as Mr Kalaugher is looked upon as the most competent demonstrator in the Dominion.
