FLOOD DAMAGE.
WASH-OUT MADE GOOD. AT GERALDINE. The work of restoration made necessary by the flood damage to Messrs Morrison Bros.’ garage and ear showrooms at Geraldine, has reached completion, some fifteen piles having been driven into the riverbed and sheathed. The sheathing came from the fluming of the old Temuka. Flour Mill. The car pit in the garage is an iron tank which was originally the one belonging to the old “Ben Venue,’ which was wrecked at Tima.ru in the early eighties, and was bought by the late Mr Morrison, senr., at the auction sal© of the wrecked ship’s sundries. From 1500 to 2000 yards of shingle filling, brought up from the riverbed by a scoop drawn by two splendid horses, has been put in behind the piling, and a good, hard clay flooring covers it, this being considered preferable to concrete. Mr Morrison, when showing our representative over the work, spoke enthusiastically of the splendid way in which all his staff had stood by the firm under most trying circumstances, and taken their full share of the strenuous work entailed. The contractors, too, had done splendidly. ,
