WINCHESTER VICTORIA HALL.

The annual meeting of householders was held on Saturday night, Mr. C. Opis presiding over a fair attendance. Tho hon. sec., Mr. J. Cripps, road the minutes of the previous annual mooting. Mr. Opio said tho committee had much pleasure in presenting their annual report, as tho year had been a very satisfactory one. Several improvements had been made about tho pi’emises, the hall had been painted, a pump had boon put down, ami £ls had boon paid oil the piano. Tho question of enlarging tho ante-rooms had been discussed, but it was thought advisable to try to reduce the debt bn tho hall first. Tho gentleman who held the mortgage had voluntarily offered to reduce tho interest, and had also offered to find 500 bricks if at any time tho committee decided to build a chimney. The balance-sheet showed : • Receipts—£s3 Os 6d (chief items—Balance last year £lO 7/10, from trustees £l3 1/8, socials £lO, Morristube £3 12/-, dancing class £6 5/-, travelling companies £2 ,7s, piano (so- j oials) £7 7/-, piano hire £2 12/6). Expenditure Interest £6 16/6, Sundries* £2, piano account £ls, painting £6 17/6, pump £4 0/6, other expenses 21/6 ; total £3B 13/10. Credit £l6 19/2.

Mr. Harrison spoke in complimentary tonus of the work done by the Committee, and particularly by the hou. sec, Mr. J. Cripps, to whose exertions the satisfactory condition of the finances was duo. Ho had done a groat deal of work for tho benefit of the hall. Mr. Harrison moved a hearty vote of thanks to tho committee, and this was seconded by Mr. J. Opio, and carried unanimously. On the motion of Messrs Harrison and Kalaugher the outgoing committee, Messrs C. Opie, J. Boston, A. Taylor, A. Wilson and J. Cripps were ro-clectod. A vote of thanks, on the motion of Messrs Harrison and Boston was passed to Mr. H. E. Smith for his reducing the rate of interest, and for his offer of bricks.

A vote of thanks to Mr. C. Opio for presiding ended tho mooting. At.a meeting of the Committee Mr. C. Opio was re-elected Chairman, and Mr. J. Cripps lion, secretary.
