There was a strong outburst *of feeling at Martou on Saturday night between ten o'clock and midnight, when a crowd numbering about -dO hooted Constable Fitzpatrick for his action in a recent licensing case at the Marton Court. A great noise was kept up and stones and eggs were thrown about, and several .windows were broken at the police station, which was at the time occupied by the constable s wife, who was naturally much alarmTwo local residents, who endeavoured to reason with the mob were hustled, and quickly silenced. Constable T‘it/.jmtrick was chouldered out of the way several times, but did not get alarmed,. Much credit is given to the constable for his self-restraint, and plucky bearing in what almost amounted to a riot.
