AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the above board was held last night. Present— Messrs J. Ashwell (chairman). A,. Frew, E. Brown, E. Carr, and A- Rgsseil. ( OHKESP.ONDENCE. Correspondence was read as follows : From the Commissioner of Grown Lands, advising that |he sum of £2(l had accrued 1 11 inspect qf thirds uu sections mentioned in schedule annexed, and requesting the board to furnish a statement of bow the suue was proposed to be expended.—The overseer to report From the sanie, stating that the bviU'd had decided not tb renew temporarily Mr Hayhurst’a lease of the “ Market Reserve,” and that it woidd proceed to deal with the same under Village Homestead Special Settlement conditions. The overseer reported that the work authorised in Hornbrook street had been duly carried out. Some patching had also been done in th T e Nca th mid South TcvVYU Bytts, The contract for the formation of the half-chain road in the special settlement had been dqly advertised, apd let to i\]r WHshimjiou, who was making satisfactory progress with it. The lamp authorised would be erected shortly. A little patching was required upon several roads, hut the work w. s not urgent. No further communication had been received from the Band Board pc
the crock, and the overseer suggested that the lower part should be cleared out at an early date, pending a reply from the board.
The overseer was instructed to notily a resident in the village settlement that his pig stye must he removed from the edge <if the creek so that the water is not polluted by the drainage.—He was authorised to employ a man for two days in filling up ruts. Accounts to the amount of £1!) ids Hd were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
