GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening. Present Messrs A. White (chairman), A. Sherratt, J. Mundell, R. Hammond, J. Williams, and N. Dunlop. COP.IiKSPONDENCE. Correspondence was read— From the Geraldine Comity Council, asking for board’s contribution to the Charitable Aid and Hospital Board.— Cheque to be sent. From Mr P. Billings, stating that tho tender for erecting lamp posts had not been carried out according to specifications, and throwing out the suggestions that the work was cut out for the tenderer before the tenders were called, and that certain members of the board were trying to screen him. Ho considered it an underhand piece of work on the part of the board, and threatened to petition the ratepayers to have the work carried out according to specifications.— The chairman explained that the work had been carried out according to specifications. From Mr W. King, saying that he had made a mistake in the number of lamps now erected when he tendered for lighting. He tendered for 13 lamps, and had since found on counting them that there were 15 lamps, and asked the board to extend his tender to £45 15s.—The board cannot entertain Mr King’s application to increase tliq amount qf his contract tender, but yill give fija per Jamp for the two extra lamps recently erected, and for any erected during his contract tern?. IfEPOKT.S. The overseer’s report on work done was read, and considered satisfactory. The ranger reported QU stray cattle in the district, and It was decided that the ranger be provided with a book for the purpose of keeping an account of the offences against each person ; and that anyone transgressing be prosecuted. jp.y,‘ uai-.. On the motion of Mr Hammond, seconded by Mr Dunlop, it was agreed to erect one new lamp at the lower end of the town. PAY SHEET. The pay sheet, amounting to £BB Bs, was passed for payment.
GERALDINE DOMAIN BOARD,
A meeting of tho Geraldine Domain Board was held after the Town Board meeting, but the only business done was to authorise the chairman to have persons prosecuted for removing timber from the Geraldine bush.
