THE LY-EE-MOON DISASTER.

At the Coroner’s inquest held yesterday on the victims of the Lr-ee-Moon disaster the jury found th»t the wreck was caused by gross neglect, hut there was not sufficient evidence before them to point out the guilty persons, 'Cap tain Lake, in his evidence, expressed the opinion that the wreck was caused by sheer carelessness on the part of Mr Fotheringham, the second officer, who was in charge on the deck at the time of striking. Mr Fortheringhara, on the other band, asserts that the captain was in charge of the ship at the time, and that he received the course to he steered from him. The evidence is very conflicting throughout.

FotheringliHin, who was in charge of the bridge when the vessel has been arrested on a charge of manslaughter.
