WHITE STAR SERVICE

DOMINION ANNUAL MEETING. The first annual general meeting of the White Star Passenger Services of New Zealand (Inc.) was held at Wellington last Friday, Mr. J. Newman, Nelson, presiding. In conformity with the policy of the federation, which exists as a national organisation of passenger-service proprietors, it was agreed that the name be changed to N.Z. Passenger Services Federation. The following council was elected for the year: The Hon. W. Hayward, M.L.C. (chairman, Christchurch), Messrs. G.' Gibson (New Plymouth), H C Newman (Hokitika), J. Musgrave (Gisborne), J. Newman (Nelson), C. S. Edwards (Auck-. land), L. C. Ryan (Rotorua), D. Martin (Wanganui), G. R. Hunter (Oamaru), H. M. Mackay (Dunedin). A deputation consisting of Messrs. Gibson, Newman, Hunter and H. J. Knight, secretary, waited on Parliament to urge the passing of an amending Bill to increase the tenure of licenses and reported that their representations on behalf of proprietors were successful. A further deputation of the council, consisting of Messrs. Gibson, Newman, Ryan, Hunter and the secretary was appointed to interview the general manager

of the Tourist Department with reference to special tours. Members generally approved of the work of the council during the year.
