LINN AND BROWN WINNERS.

RESULTS OF PAIRS GAMES.

T. H. Linn (leads) and J. B. Brown (skips) were the winners of a pairs bowling tournament at Eltham yesterday. Brown, with five wins, won the competition for skips, while Linn and W. M. Peacock tied with six wins each for the leads. The play-off resulted in a win for Linn. The winners each received a small silver cup as a club trophy. In presenting the prizes the president, Mr. G. W. Peebles, congratulated the successful players and said he hoped the tournament would be the forerunner of many more this season and that they would be well supported.

The wins in each section were:— Skips: J. B. Brown 5, J. R. M. Stewart, G. W. Peebles, A. Tiplady 4, H. J. Drabble 3J, J. Bootten, T. McQueen, J. Campbell, A. R. Gower 3, J. H. Fake 2, L. Bluett 1, H. G. Carman i. Leads: W. M. Peacock, T. H. Linn 6, E. Hastilow, W. Smith, C. W. Carlson 3, P. de Launay, Compton 2j, J. Streeter, F. R. S. Bullen, F. Coward, A. Coleman 2, S. E. Carson 1.

BOWLERS’ CARDS SOCIAL

WEST END CLUB GATHERING.

Characterised by true bowlers’ friendliness a flag five hundred evening was held at New Plymouth last night by the West End Bowling Club in honour of the women’s committee. Mr. P. J. Douglass, speaking in the absence of Mr. J. Christoffel, president, said the committee was a wonderful one; it had done much for the men and been the means of improving considerably the social side of the club’s activities. Mr. Douglass also thanked those who contributed to a short programme of entertainment. These were Miss B. Turnbull, song; Mr. W. P. Okey, songs; Mr. R. Thomas, recitation and musical monologue; Mr. T. Petty, conjuring; Mr. J. R. Hill, recitation. Mr. H. N. Renaud played accompaniments. Mr. L. Honeyfield was master of ceremonids. Players at the winning table at 500 were Messrs. W. H. Jarman, A. C. Evans, J. L. Walton and V. Griffiths. Mr. W. H. Jarman won the travelling flag.
