ATLANTIC SERVICE

15 GIANT FLYING BOATS IMPERIAL AIRWAY FLEET FIRST STEP IN SCHEME MAKING USE OF WINDS By ■ Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 8.35 p.m. London, Oct. 28. Imperial Airways will shortly order 15 giant flying boats, bringing the company’s total fleet to 30, says the Daily Telegraph’s aeronautical correspondent. This may be regarded as the first step towards a regular trans-Atlantic service. Each plane will have a range of 1500 miles and a cruising speed of 160 miles an hour.

The Atlantic service will probably take advantage of the prevailing west to east winds, the eastward service going direct from Newfoundland to Ireland and the westward service going by way of the Azores and Bermudas, where the winds are njore favourable.
