FAREWELL AT HEAO
RAILWAYMAN’S DEPARTURE. i A smoke concert was held in the Heao hall on Saturday night, when the railway men made a presentation to and farewelled one of their workmates, Mr. Alan Brown, Tatu. Visitors were* present from Ohura, Tatu, Tangarakau and Tokirima,
The chairman, Mr. G. Leahy, Heao, proposed the health of the guest of the evening and in a short speech expressed regret at the departure ■ of Mr. Brown, and wished him success and prosperity in his new home. Ganger L. Francis, Mangaparo, and Ganger A. N. Hutchison, Tangarakau, also spoke of the estimable qualities of Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown in reply said he had lived in the district 23 years and found it extremely hard to sever his connection with all his old friends. A. letter from Mr. T. Mallett regretting his inability to be present and conveying his best wishes was read. Items
