ELTHAM PRESENTATION
MR. G. D. WILLIAMS FAREWELLED.
Mr. G. D. Williams, of the staff' of the Eltham branch of the Bank of New South Wales, was presented with a wristlet watch from members of various Eltham sports bodies prior to his departure for Wanganui. In making the presentation Mr. R. J.
Tayler, president of the Eltham Football Club, spoke of the conspicuous part Mr. Williams had played in the senior fifteen. The club regretted his departure but hoped he would progress in the Rugby sport.
Mr. T. R. Bourke, club secretary, spoke in appreciation of Mr. Williams’ efforts and sgid his departure was a loss to the back division of the team. \
For the past two seasons Mr. Williams had proved himself a live wire in local sport, said Mr. A. G. Whiting, representing Rugby and boxing interests. He felt sure Mr. Williams would make his mark in any branch of sport he took up. ' Mr. H. N. Murray expressed the best wishes of the alpine and swimming clubs and said Mr. Williams had been a most enthusiastic mountaineer. He hoped he would still find time for a periodical holiday visit to Taranaki. Mr. Williams admitted he was . not over-pleased < at the prospect of leaving Eltham, where he had made many friends and had thoroughly enjoyed himself. However, he had no option and would have to make the best of the transfer.
