TENNIS AT MIDHIRST

CLUB IN SOUND POSITION.

THE COURTS FREE FROM DEBT. The highly satisfactory financial position of the Midhirst Tennis Club was the subject of favourable comment at the annual meeting of the club on Monday night. It was an enthusiastic meeting, Mr. H. Jensen presiding over an attendance of 24 members. The club had a credit balance of £ll 9s 9d, reported the secretary, Mr. J. Castelli, and the courts were entirely free from debt. This position had been achieved in tw’o years, remarked the president, and it represented a great achievement. He congratulated the members on the splendid spirit they had shown.

The president and secretary resigned but after some discussion they decided to accept office again. Officers were elected as follow: Patron,

Mr. A. E. Garrard; president, Mr. H. E. Jensen; honorary secretary, Mr. J. Castelli; trustee, Mrs. J. E. Schumacher; vice-presidents, five elected; committee,, Miss J. Blair, Messrs. D. Harkness, W. Harkness and R. Ross; coach, Mr. R. Ross; men’s captain, Mr. D. Harkness; women’s captain, Mrs. W. Platt.

It was decided to purchase two new nets for the opening day, October 31.. The secretary was voted £2 honorarium* as a mark of appreciation of his services.
