ARMSTRONG ABERDEEN ANGUS.

120 GUINEAS FOR A YEARLING. The 20th annual sale of Aberdeen Angus bulls and heifers was held on Thursday at Dannevirke on account of Mr. Frank Armstrong, Akitio. This herd was conducted during the last few years under the name of the late Mr. Hamish Armstrong, who was killed recently in an aeroplane accident. The offering came forward in excellent order, attracting the usual buyers from all parts of the North Island. Some of the bulls were purchased for Southland and Canterbury. A r feature of the sale was the fact that a full crop of two-year heifers was offered to buyers, who availed themselves of this opportunity of adding to existing herds or commencing breeding. The sale, which was held on the property of Mr. L. Cowan,' was conducted by Murray, Roberts, and Company Ltd., New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company Ltd., and Williams and Kettle Ltd.

Top prices were ' 120grts for yearling bulls, 75gns for two-year bulls, 62 J /2gns for two-year heifers, and 60gns for yearling heifers, while averages for individual lines were: Fifty-nine two-year bulls 32gns, six yearling bulls 63gns, 44 two-year heifers 29gns, and nine yearling heifers The total proceeds amounted to £4014.

The yearling bull purchased by Mr. Galpin, Marton, a particularly fine animal, made the top price of 120gns. This breeder has purchased bulls at this sale since its inception. Other consistent buyers at the sale, Dalrymple Bros., Bulls, secured a two-year-old at 75gns. Mr. L. A. P. Sherriff, the well-known breeder of Taihape, had to go to 62%gns to secure an outstanding two-year heifer. Another consistent buyer, Mr. Fritz Krull, Kimbolton, purchased a choice yearling heifer at 60gns.
