Mrs. E. J. Sole, New Plymouth, who has been spending a few days with her daughter, Mrs. N. O. Ebbett, has returned. Mrs. F. Stephens has returned from a holiday visit to Auckland. Miss Molly Whittle returned last week from a holiday visit to Wellington. Mrs. A. Smiles, Patea, spent the weekend with Mrs. C. Masters at Stratford, and then went to visit Tangarakau. Miss Betty Hale, who has been spending a holiday at Wellington, has returned. Mrs. N. H. Moss was hostess at a bridge party on Saturday, when two tables were in play. Those playing were Mesdames Moss, J. C. Allen, E. J., Sole (New Plymouth), N. O. Ebbet, B. Bellringer, L. Wynyard, R. R. lyrer, R. Strachan. A dance was held in the Masonic hall on Monday by members of the social club. The hostesses were Mesdames J. Petrie, C. Higgs, and H. Webber. Among those present were Mesdames C. Higgs, Petrie, H. Webber, E. Masters, R. MacRae, Harrison (Eltham), Fastier, R. Turnbull, Feek, W. Liddell, W. Davis, F. Stephens, Beale, E. Batten, H. Cooper. NORMANBY v . Mrs. W. G. Gane returned at the weekend from a motor trip to Wellington. z Mrs. Collingwood was a visitor to Opunake during the week. Mrs. North, New Plymouth, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Parslow. Mrs.. G. Galloway and her two little daughters, who have been holidaying at New Plymouth, returned on Tuesday. Miss K. Coxhead 'has returned from a holiday visit ,to New Plymouth. Mrs. A. Galloway, is on a, short visit to relatives, at New Plymouth.
Mrs. V. F. Howell and Mrs. A. Knuckey will leave this week by car on a holiday visit to Wellington.
Mrs. V. F. Howell was hostess at a bridge party at her home, Whenuku Road, on Saturday night. Polyanthus, wood hyacinths and flowering shrubs made attractive decoration? in the drawing room. The hostess received her guests in a smart black model frock. The prize for the highest score was won by Mr. Oliver, that for the hidden number by Mr. Develin and the consolation prize by Mrs. Adams. ..Mesdames Kaye (Inglewood), W. H. Walton (Patea), A. Morey (Tikorangi), A. Whitehead (Tikorangi), C. H. Brewer (Kaponga), W. J. Smith (Inglewood) and Miss Coleman (Ngaere) were visitors to Normanby for the Women’s Institute executive committee meeting. They were the guests ,of the Normanby institute at morning and afternoon tea. Mrs. Adams, senr., Wellington, is spending a holiday as the guest of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. V. Adams, Ketemarae Road.
Mrs. R. Flintoff was hostess at a pleasant evening at her home on Tuesday, when she invited a number of guests in honour of Mrs. A. H. Skedgwell, Mountain Road, whose birthday was being celebrated. The evening was spent with games and dancing to music played by Messrs. M. Murray, A. Skedgwell, junr., and N. Hatcher. Mr. M. Condon proposed the health of Mrs. Skedgwell, Mr. Skedgwell, in reply, thanking Mrs. Flintoff for arranging the evening. Miss M. Ritter left at the week-end for New Plymouth, where she is vsiting her sister, Mrs. E. Pacey.
