COWS ON EGMONT

FALLING TREES BREAK FENCES. REPORT TO BE OBTAINED. Reference to the grazing of cattle in the Egmont National Park reserve was made by Mr. J. C. Robins at a meeting of the east committee of the Egmont Park Board at Stratford last night. It was generally known that there was a fairly large number of cattle wintering in= the reserve, he said. There had been a bit of trouble experienced by farmers on the boundary, where occasionally falling trees or branches had broken down the fences and allowed the cattle to stray. Some of the farmers had .financial difficulty in repairing the fences. If the committee had any information it should at once forward it to the park board, said Mr. P. Thomson. He had heard many reports of cattle found in the reserve, said the secretary, Mr. G. A. Carter. In some places the reserve looked more like a stock yard than a park, he had been told.

It was decided to obtain a report on the position.
