PLUNKET SOCIETY WORK

NEW PLYMOUTH COMMITTEE. Th? monthly meeting of the committee of the New Plymouth branch of the Plunket Society was held on Monday, Mrs.' Franklin White presiding. Mrs. Don Fox and Mrs. A. E. Williams were present as delegates from tHe newly formed sub-branch atOkato/Mrs- Fox having been elected president and Mrs. Williams honorary secretary. The committee members expressed gratitude to Gibson’s Motors for the cheque they had received as the procoeds from the White Star benefit pallArrangements were made in connection with the annual “baby day’-’ appeal, which is to be held this year on October 25, and members were appointed to organise the stalls. It was reported that the members of the gardening circle of the Women’s Club, under the convenership of Mrs. W. Middleton, had consented to take charge of the flower stall. The conveners of the mothers’ stall reported that they already had arrangements well in hand and many articles of clothing had been received. They would be pleased if all mothers who were making garments would send them in by the end of September. A variety entertainment is being organised' by Mr. E. J. Carr in aid of funds for the society, and it is to be held in the Workers’ Social Hall on September 26. Gratitude to MrCarr was expressed. Mrs. G. F. Rich reported on the old clothes sale to be held in the Workers’ Social Hall on September 20, and appealed to mothers'and "those, interested in the society" td send clothes to Plunket House by September 16. ' "' The nurses’ report for August detailed the wide range of work covered. The following subscriptions received during August were, acknowledged: MescJames A. Lowe, S. Pruden, S. E. Smith. F. A. Lee, R. A. Boon,' W. J. Bethell. L. T. Hill, C. Hendricksen, R. S. Foreman, W. N. Findlay and S. Ogle (each ss).
