All members must play as drawn, and must get away to time. Any player not able to be present is requested to communicate with the secretary immediately. There appears to be some doubt in the minds of some members as to their rights when a ball lies within the enclosures around the trees planted to divide fairways. As no local rule has been drawn to give the right to shift a ball lying within these enclosures or against the trees, the laws of golf apply and the ball must 'be treated as lying within a tree plantation, and must be shifted under penalty. New Plymouth (men):—-Saturday, first round of Weston trophy Canadian foursomes medal, seniors to be partnered by juniors. MATIERE CHAMPIONSHIP. RESULTS OF FIRST ROUND. The first round of the Matiere club championship was played on the Matiere links on Sunday. Results were:— G. Baker beat H. Stoddart 4 and 3. W. Baker beat G. Goldring at the 20th. J. V. Ross beat J. Turner 2 and 1. H. Turner beat R. Jamieson 2 and 1. The draw for the semi-final is: G. Baker v. H. Turner and J. V. Ross v. W. Baker. During the week-end J. V. Ross with a round of 35—39—74 on Saturday and 37—38—75 on Sunday was playing good golf. FITZROY WOMEN’S HANDICAP. EXCELLENT MEDAL SCORES.
