PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
ANDRESEN V. LABRIOLA. Labriola, a fresh recruit to the ranks of the professional wrestlers operating in the Dominion, will meet Andresen at the Coronation Hall, New Plymouth, on Saturday night. He is an American of Italian extraction, has been matched with the leading wrestlers of the United States and proved himself good enough to be given a chance in a title bout with Jim Londos. Prior to leaving the States he was well aware of the exceptionally high class of wrestlers now operating in New Zealand and this was the deciding factor in his making the trip, as it was a guarantee of first-class matches. He is most anxious to uphold the present prestige enjoyed by all wrestlers now in the Dominion, and prefers that fans judge him by his work in the ring rather than by publicity. His motto is, ‘Actions are greater than word.” Andresen has done most of his New Zealand wrestling in the South Island with tremendous success. Only once has he been seen in action in the North Island, at Wanganui. The meeting of these two matmen will mean much to both, and while Andresen is already well established, Labriola knows that he has to produce the goods. The professional contest will be preceded by amateur bouts, and Mr. Bill Besley has consented to act as rereree. The box plan is now open at Chum Roberts,’ tobacconist, Devon Street, New Plymouth. Reservations and day sales can be secured at no extra charge and enthusiasts' can avoid inconvenience at the doors by availing themselves of this concession.
