GIRL DISAPPEARS

The police have been making extensive inquiries regarding the disappearance of Phyllis Margaret Davey, aged 15, from Raetihi on July 17. The girl was sent to do shopping and called on a butcher, a fruiterer, a sta-
tioner and at the post office in sequence, receiving mail at 12.40 p.m. Since then she has not been-seen. The day following the disappearance the mother received a letter from her indicating that she intended to go to Pipiriki, with the intention of getting
employment. The letter was posted between 8.15 a.m. and 11 a.m. on July 18. The father is certain that the letter was not posted by the girl, as he was about the post office during that period. _ The description of the missing girl is: Height, sft IJin; weight, 9st 61b. She
appears to be about 17. years of age, is stout of btfild and has a 40in bust She has brown hair, blue eyes ami natural teeth, some of which are missing at the back. There is a scar near the centre of the nose and a birthmark at the back of the head under the’hair. She has a
very high instep and takes size three or four in shoes. When in the fruit shop she appeared to be in good spirits. She spoke of takthe meat home for lunch. She had no money at the time of her disappearance.
