BUREAU OF PEACE

SUGGESTION FOR NEW ZEALAND. SUPERVISION BY MINISTER. 4. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The setting up of a peace bureau under the direction of the Minister of External Affairs was urged upon the Government in a remit from Auckland considered at the annual conference! of the New Zealand League of Nations Union. A peace bureau, it was urged, was necessary for the supply of information about the League of Nations so that the public might be educated. The success of the peace ballot held recently in Great Britain was referred to, but the opinion was expressed that the time was not yet ripe for such a ballot to be held in New Zealand. More propaganda Was needed first and more branches of the union should be formed. The conference decided to issue a statement summarising the result of the peace ballot in Great Britain.
