FIRE AT WAIPUKU
LARGE WOODEN HOUSE BURNED.
NARROW ESCAPE OF OCCUPANTS.
A large wooden house on Rutland Road, Waipuku, belonging to Mr. William Hunwick was completely destroyed by fire about 9.30 last night. Mr. Hunwick, who is an elderly man, his daughter-in-law and grand-children had a nai'row escape in their night clothes. Mr. Hunwick junior and his sons were away for the evening. The flames spread so quickly that it was impossible to save anything. It is understood the fire started in the back part of the house. It was not known last night whether the house or its contents were insured.
