Stratford Match “Off.” ~ Advice from the Taranaki Rugby Union that’ it would be unable to keep to its arrangement to play representative football match at Stratford on July 4 was received by toe Stratford Poultry and Winter Show Association on Saturday night. It was unfortunate that the AllIndia hockey team was playing at Eltham on that day, stated the union’s letter/ and the union was afraid that there would be a considerable loss on. the game if played at Stratford on that day. Shortage of Cars. A shortage of cars hindered the progress of a clothes drive organised by the Stratford Women’s Relief Committee on Saturday, and the collection was not completed. Two borough council lorries were the only vehicles available, so that the drive will have to be completed tomorrow. The results so far had been vety good, reported the secretary, Mrs. A. D. Blick. i Kahouri Bridge Card Evening. In spite of unfavourable weather there was a fair attendance at the five hundred flag tournament held in the Kahouri Bridge hall on Wednesday night The winning table (28 points) was occupied by Mrs. Peachey, Miss Adams, Mr. Waite and Mr. Madgwick. Music for the dancing was supplied by Wright’s Dance Band. School Football at Eltham. By six points to 5 Eltham beat Stratford in a school football match at Eltham. The return match at Stratford next Friday will decide the winner of the Central Taranaki schools championship. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr J. C. Allen left Stratford for Auckland yesterday. He will return on Thursday.
